Dominic Ryan, Ford Fiesta driver in Tin Tops, class T4, age 38.

BARC SEC: Ok green flags – lets go: how did your adventure with motorsport get started?
Dominic Ryan: I discovered motorsport for non-millionaires existed at a motorshow in London back in the 90's; on a Caterham stand they were promoting a package of a kit car, ARDS test, and a mixture of races, sprints, and a hillclimb for £12k. Even then that was a bit expensive for me, but it did inspire me to look more seriously at competing in motorsport – and as abandoned Fiestas littered the laybys of Essex at the time I figured a free(ish) car would be a good place to start.

BS: You're behind the wheel of your Ford Fiesta. What is your dream racing car?
D.R.: A faster Fiesta! But failing that, an Aston Martin or some other cool GT car will suffice.

BS: What is your dream motorsport event you want to take part in?
D.R.: Le Mans 24 hours

BS: Hard braking now – are there any other sport disciplines you're familiar with?
D.R.: Aside from F1, MotoGP, and interesting rallies like the Dakar; I do like a bit of the Tour De France.

BS: Racing is on weekends – what are you doing weekdays?
D.R.: Designing, installing and maintaining computer servers and networks for small businesses and charities.

BS: Who are your motorsport and non-motorsport heroes?
D.R.: Sebastian Vettel and Bradley Wiggins.

BS: What are your expectations for 2013?
D.R.: Aiming high – first ever Tin Tops Championship winner! Won't win any races, but consistent and decent class positions will hopefully do the job.

BS: Very tricky corner now – imagine there are no cars in the world, what would you do?
D.R.: Get on my mountain bike.

BS: And finish line – it's time for a drink. What's your favorite one?
D.R.: Guinness.

BS: Thanks and good luck.
