One lap with...

Peter Osborne, Clio 16v driver in Cannons TinTops Championship, class TP, age 45.

BARC SEC: Ok green flags – lets go: how did your adventure with motorsport get started?
Peter Osborne: Used to help a friend out in Formula Ford and always used to go off and watch the saloon cars. Then found a Karting magazine and decided to have a go Karting in 1986.

BS: You're behind the wheel of your Renault Clio 16v. What is your dream racing car?
P.O.: Lots! Anything saloon car based, but I would love to have a go in any early 1990's Touring Car.

BS: What is your dream motorsport event you want to take part in?
P.O.: Touring Car race at Brands Hatch.

BS: Hard braking now – are there any other sport disciplines you're familiar with?
P.O.: No, apart from bloody horses – married a farmer's daughter! My daughter has also taken up Pony Racing which is a different type of horsepower!!

BS: Racing is on weekends – what are you doing weekdays?
P.O.: Working as a self-employed builder, so I get covered in dust and muck, rained on, snowed on etc. However, it pays for the racing!

BS: Who are your motorsport and non-motorsport heroes?
P.O.: Johnny Herbert as I remember him Karting and met him at Formula Ford meetings. The other would be Lord Hesketh and I have always had a Hesketh Bear sticker on my race cars.

BS: What are your expectations for 2013?
P.O.: To compete at all the TinTops rounds and go faster than last year.

BS: Very tricky corner now – imagine there are no cars in the world, what would you do?
P.O.: Drive my digger and look out the window and get bored. My wife says I would be a nightmare!!

BS: And finish line – it's time for a drink. What's your favorite one?
P.O.: Spitfire and Spanish red wine (not together). When I have had a really good race it is always Veuve Clicquot. I had a drink problem at Christmas – the wine rack wasn't big enough!!

BS: Thanks and good luck.

Peter Osborne
