One lap with...

Lee McNair, Honda Integra DC5 Type R driver in Quaife Motorsport News Saloons, class D, age - "Younger then some older then others".

BARC SEC: Ok green flags – lets go: how did your adventure with motorsport get started?
Lee McNair: I have always been around cars what with my dad and uncles being car mad. I bought an unfinished racing Mini with my dad and good friend Phil Anning which we rebuilt then shared the driving duties in sprinting and hillclimbing and it snowballed from there.

BS: You're behind the wheel of your Honda Integra DC5 Type R. What is your dream racing car?
L. M.: Something like a Bugatti T59 or a late 1990s Super Touring car.

BS: What is your dream motorsport event you want to take part in?
L. M.: Macau touring car race.

BS: Hard braking now – are there any other sport disciplines you're familiar with?
L. M.: Always try to watch Moto GP, athletics used to do a lot of it at school, and boxing.

BS: Racing is on weekends – what are you doing weekdays?
L. M.: Building race, rally and track day cars for other people.

BS: Who are your motorsport and non-motorsport heroes?
L. M.: I don't do hero worshipping but I have people I admire. In motorsport – Ayrton Senna and Marco Simoncelli and outside of motorsport the Doctors and Nurses who helped my Dad and Nephew through their troubles.

BS: What are your expectations for 2013?
L. M.: To compete a full season of close, clean racing, come back in one piece and most of all have fun.

BS: Very tricky corner now – imagine there are no cars in the world, what would you do?
L. M.: Work at the Shuttleworth collection restoring and flying vintage aircraft.

BS: And finish line – it's time for a drink. What's your favorite one?
L. M.: Glen Garioch, Coal Ila, Single Malt Scotch Whiskeys.

BS: Thanks and good luck.
