One lap with...

Sean Fairweather, Ford Sierra RS Cosworth driver in QMN Saloons Championship,
class C, age 43.

BARC SEC: OK green flags – lets go: how did your adventure with motorsport get started?
Sean Fairweather: I knew at 10 that all I really wanted to do was race cars. Already pursuing the thrill of driving (yes I was only ten10 years old) and witnessing the local road race event. Alas I was too young then but after many attempts and quite a few years, am now doing it and loving it.

BS: You're behind the wheel of your Ford Sierra RS Cosworth. What is your dream racing car?
S.F.: I probably should say the winning car, there are so many great cars, I am comfortable with the sierra's, but maybe given the choice would like to have a go in a Lotus or one of those R8's.

BS: What is your dream motorsport event you want to take part in?
S.F.: Wouldn't it be something if you could race all the tracks, I would like to take part in some endurance events. Bathurst and Le Mans would be good. Realistically there are a few closer to home that I should try first.

BS: Hard braking now – are there any other sport disciplines you're familiar with?
S.F.: I played, tried most sports growing up and enjoyed them all but the only one that I constantly thought about was racing.

BS: Racing is on weekends – what are you doing weekdays?
S.F.: I have a 9 to 5 job.

BS: Who are your motorsport and non-motorsport heroes?
S.F.: I guess my motorsport heros would be from my early days when I was into bikes as well, Wayne Gardner, and Mick Doohan and for the cars, Peter Brock and Jim Richards. In case you haven't guessed I am Aussie…. my non-motorsport heroes -Talking Heads.

BS: What are your expectations for 2014?
S.F.: Given my poor start, I hope i have reliability now so I can enjoy the racing that's left and be ready to go next year.

BS: Very tricky corner now – imagine there are no cars in the world, what would you do?
S.F.: I would be racing something maybe motobikes or are there any speed boats races?

BS: And finish line – it's time for a drink. What's your favorite one?
S.F.: Probably coffee but I love water and the first beer always goes down well...

BS: Thanks and good luck.
