Stephen Dann, VW Golf driver in Quaife Motorsport News Saloons Championship, class B, age 40.

BARC SEC: Ok green flags – lets go: how did your adventure with motorsport get started?
Stephen Dann: After several years of watching Rod Birley racing I decided to try sprinting, after winning the ASEMC championship and a class wins I decided try racing.

BS: You're behind the wheel of your VW Golf. What is your dream racing car?
S. D.: Hmmm difficult one, I'm going for a SWB Quattro S1.

BS: What is your dream motorsport event you want to take part in?
S. D.: BTCC I think.

BS: Hard braking now – are there any other sport disciplines you're familiar with?
S. D.: I used to be a good pool player, winning several trophies and once being classed third best player in the Maidstone League.

BS: Racing is on weekends – what are you doing weekdays?
S. D.: I have a busy plumbing and DIY shop to run then car building in the evenings.

BS: Who are your motorsport and non-motorsport heroes?
S. D.: Motorsport will have to be all the marshals out there, non motorsport would have to be my parents.

BS: What are your expectations for 2013?
S. D.: Finish the new car and compete in at least three events.

BS: Very tricky corner now – imagine there are no cars in the world, what would you do?
S. D.: Build one or get back on a bike.

BS: And finish line – it's time for a drink. What's your favorite one?
S. D.: Tea, You can't beat a good brew.
