Andy Banham, Subaru Impreza driver in Quaife Motorsport News Saloons,
class A, age 53.

BARC SEC: OK green flags – lets go: how did your adventure with motorsport get started?
Andy Banham:Not so long, long time ago – in 2012.

BS: You're behind the wheel of your Subaru Impreza. What is your dream racing car?
A.B.: My 2003 Spec C Impreza, just 200kg lighter and 200bhp more grunt! Still be eligible for class A!

BS: What is your dream motorsport event you want to take part in?
A.B.: BTCC - motorized mayhem but great machines and brilliant drivers!

BS: Hard braking now – are there any other sport disciplines you're familiar with?
A.B.: I used to play snooker a lot, but you have to walk around and lift a lump of wood, so turned to motorized pastimes!

BS: Racing is on weekends – what are you doing weekdays?
A.B.: Managing a commercial mechanical services contracting company… or "stress by the pipe load’.

BS: Who are your motorsport and non-motorsport heroes?
A.B.: Who are your motorsport and non-motorsport heroes: Jim Clark, Jackie Stewart, Lewis Hamilton, ‘Nitro Nori’, Jason Plato… Oh, non-motorsport? Hmmm, Dunno! Eddie the Eagle Edwards!

BS: What are your expectations for 2014?
A.B.: Improve my lap times at brands till I know I’m getting the most out of the car, probably finish last in class A for the year, but I’m concentrating on 2015!

BS: Very tricky corner now – imagine there are no cars in the world, what would you do?
A.B.: Shoot myself… or just keel over walking to the local takeaway.

BS: And finish line – it's time for a drink. What's your favorite one?
A.B.: Cider, water’s quite healthy, but cider’s more fun!

BS: Thanks and good luck.
