Best wishes to Colin Gomm.

Added: 25th October 2013

Everyone at BARC South East wish Colin Gomm all the best, as he is battling a couple of brain tumors at the moment.

Hopefully Colin will be joining us at Brands Hatch next weekend to reassure everyone that he is looking forward to getting back behind the wheel soon.

He would like to thank all those who have contacted him as well.

BARC HQ Inter Centre Challenge at Rockingham - UPDATED.

Added: 12th October 2013

BARC HQ will be running the popular inter centre challenge event at Rockingham on November 16th. You may recall that the DDMC team won the event last year. It is hoped that we can field a team of at least 8, primarily from the silhouette class and possibly class A of QMN. Interested drivers should contact Ken Angell as soon as possible please, so that we know we can field a team.

The proposed Tin Top challenge is going ahead, but has been moved to Sunday 24th November. Castle Combe are putting a team together, and most of their cars run on list 1A tyres. There will be classes dependent upon the entry and extra awards are being provided. The entry fee is £250 which covers two races of approx. 15 laps each. Contact Rod Birley or Pauline Phillips..

State of play

Added: 11th October 2013

Going into our final championship meeting of the year at Brands Hatch on November 2/3, all three championships are still up for grabs.

In the QMN saloons it is between Andy Woods-Dean (from class E) and Steve Rothery (from class D), both have to drop one score. Andy is in the prime position and he would have to have a real disaster to loose the championship at this stage. Both drivers have won their respective classes in the championship, as has Rod Birley (class A) and Ian Butler (class B).

The Quaife Intermarque is between Matt Simpson and Chris Brockhurst, neither have to drop a score. Currently Matt leads by ten points, so Chris has to beat Matt by at least two positions in one of the races, as well as either winning or finishing in front of Matt (by at least two positions) in the other one. Matt Moore (class A) and John Chasey (class C) have secured their titles.

The Cannons Tin Tops is the most open. With seven drivers still mathematically capable of taking the overall title. The battle is between Peter Osborne, Glen Rossiter, Dominic Ryan, Dave Charlton, Terry Searles, Tom Bridger and Chris Whiteman. The first four all have to drop one score, and the maximum a driver can score is 29 in each race (dependant upon the number of starters). The permutations are endless, and no doubt this will go to the very last race. May the best man win.

Class HR Intermarque clarification - UPDATED.

Added: 7th October 2013

Following various discussions with drivers, the intermarque class HR provisional regulations for 2014 will include a limit on four speed H pattern gearboxes with a 1:1 top gear ratio only. No five speed gearboxes. You may "blank off" or remove a gear to comply. Only Ford (Quaife or Elite) casings. The minimum weight (including driver) is increasing from 830 kilograms to 850.

There is likely to be a "Seniors Cup" in 2014 for drivers aged 50 and over, provided a sponsor can be found.

Castle Combe race report.

Added: 6th October 2013

By Rod Birley

The fast and undulating Castle Combe circuit witnessed another twist in the Quaife Intermarque 2013 season. The drama started just as the cars ventured out onto the circuit for qualifying, as three hot air balloons appeared over the horizon. Luckily the wind direction changed, so the unexpected visitors drifted away in another direction. With Matt Simpson and Chris Brockhurst lining up on the front row of the grid read more...
